Courtesy of RRI (Indonesian Republic Radio), Widyatama University establishes collaborative relationships with two universities in the United States, the University of San Francisco and San Francisco State University, to improve the quality of education and promote academic relations and collaboration between two countries, on Monday (1/7/2019).
Daily Management Chairman of the Widyatama Foundation, Prof. Obsatar Sinaga said that the collaboration was very much required by Widyatama University to improve the quality of education, not only in Widyatama but also it was important to improve the quality of education in Indonesia.
He also said that it was in line with the demands of the Ministry of Education of Indonesia (Ministry of Education and Culture) in reaching the demands of technology 4.0 needed by companies and industries.
“One of the goals of Widyatama’s cooperation with the two universities is specifically the exploration of cooperation in the field of high-tech bio-computer with USF and SFSU which will be useful for preparing students and activities for the Widyatama in the industrial era 4.0. “It requires high creativity in terms of technological innovation with related fields of other technologies such as Internet of Thing and big data,” he explained.
Obsatar previously explained that Widyatama had met the Dean of the Faculty of Business, University of San Francisco Prof. Elizabeth Davies and Prof. Wong from San Francisco State University in the United States to facilitate academic relations and network development.
On the same occasion, Academic Chancellor, Widyatama University Planning and Cooperation Prof. Moch Haizam, this academic series is important and appropriate to guarantee the quality in publishing scientific articles and improving the quality of research. In general, cooperation between universities across countries is aimed at improving the quality of universities in facing global competition and entering the modern industrial era 4.0.
“In particular, the collaboration aims to improve the quality of scopus indexed scientific journals, exchange of students and lecturers, community service and collaboration in organizing international conferences,” he said.
It was also said by Sri Juniati, Widyatama Foundation always supports the efforts made by Widyatama University to improve the quality of education, teaching and investigations of the academic community in Widyatama University.
“San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco are known as leading state technology universities in the United States by having campuses which in academic activities are more focused on research, ranging from fundamental research to applied research,” said Sri.
In addition to establishing cooperation with these two universities, Widyatama has also collaborated with Harvard University and Oxford University, United Kingdom with the aim of improving academic quality. Widyatama sent its delegation from Widyatama University to also accompany the World Economic Forum (WEAI) in San Francisco, United States from June 28 to July 3, 2019 for research presentations.
