(Reporting from Pikiran Rakyat) Pikiran Rakyat (PR) and Widyatama University (UTama) attempted a collaboration as an effort to optimize the potential, expertise, and facilities that were owned by each other. The collaboration would be stated in the form of a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The discussion was held in the seminar room at Building B, 6th floor at Widyatama University, Jalan Cikutra No. 204 A, Bandung, Tuesday (2/4/2019).
Widyatama Foundation and University were represented by the Widyatama Foundation Chairperson Prof. Dr. Obsatar Sinaga, Widyatama University Rector Dr. Islahuzzaman, Deputy Chancellor for Operations, HR and Finance Djoko S Roespinoedji, SE, PG DIP, and Deputy Chancellor for Academic, Planning and Cooperation Prof. Dr. Mohd Haizam Bin Mohd Saudi. They were accompanied by a range of board administrators and a number of deans. From Pikiran Rakyat represented by Business Director Januar Primadi Ruswita, Corporate Secretary of Budhiana Kartawijaya, and his staff.
According to Obsatar, Widyatama University has a number of specialties. It refers to complete facilities and special pathways from a number of educational institutions in Europe and America in publishing international scientific journals. Widyatama also works with the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) to be authorized to standardize and issue expertise certification.
“I want this collaboration to be different. Pikiran Rakyat has a psychological relationship with Widyatama and I hope that the cooperation is mutually beneficial for both parties.” Obsatar said. He even offered a level of study to “PR” employees for certain benefits.
One of a form dealing with this collaboration will be carried out in the form of apprenticeship of Widyatama University students in Pikiran Rakyat in various disciplines that will support the learning and training process in the working area.
While Januar Primadi said, Pikiran Rakyat as a media and Widyatama as educational institution would equip the pentahelix element in an effort to accelerate development in West Java. Therefore, the collaboration undertaken was expected to bring greater benefits to the people of West Java.
In line with Januar statement, Budhiana Kartawaijaya said that the current Pikiran Rakyat was not just a printed media or newspaper that had been known to West Java residents for more than half a century, but had transformed into a number of platforms and services for the community.
The digital platform became one of the choices in the flow of disruption in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Likewise, the Pikiran Rakyat Institute was built to serve certain fields of education and expertise.
The signed memorandum would be followed by a number of more technical collaboration agreements. One of them was the student apprenticeship program, publication of a number of innovations produced by Widyatama students and lecturers, and participation in the Citarum Harum program.
